Reds P Marshall to have another season-ending shoulder surgery

Cincinnati, OH ( - The Cincinnati Reds announced on Saturday that pitcher Sean Marshall will have season-ending shoulder surgery this week.

Marshall, who hasn't pitched at all this year, is set to undergo a procedure to repair the torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder on Wednesday. Mets surgeon Dr. David Altcheck will preside.

The 32-year-old, 6-foot-7 lefty appeared in only 16 games in 2013 and 15 last year before enduring season-ending surgery in June. It's a stunning turnaround for Marshall, who pitched in a Major League-high 231 games from 2010-12 between the Cubs and Reds.

Since breaking in with Chicago in 2006, Marshall owns a 37-46 lifetime record and a 3.86 ERA over 396 appearances.
