DETROIT – Detroit Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula was knocked out of the New York Rangers game with a lower-body injury.
The Red Wings announced in the third period of Monday night's game that Filppula would not return.
He had 31 points in his first 49 games this season.
Filppula left on the same night Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup after missing 19 games with a broken right wrist.
