Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston Red Sox hitting coach Greg Colbrunn has elected not to return to the position for the 2015 season, the team announced Friday.

The Red Sox finished tied for 11th in the American League in runs scored (634) this past season, a big drop from their majors-leading total of 853 runs in 2013.

The 45-year-old Colbrunn missed part of the 2014 season after suffering subarachnoid hemorrhage in early June, and returned to the club in July.

Colbrunn joined the Red Sox in November of 2012 and served as hitting coach during the team's run to last year's World Series title.
