Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ashley Wagner set two records on the way to her third career title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Wagner, 23, earned a record 148.98 points in the free skate Saturday night to easily beat Gracie Gold, the defending champion who won the title last year as an 18-year-old.

It was Wagner's first U.S. title since the second of her back-to-back wins in 2013.

She earned 72.04 points in Thursday's short program and finished with a record total of 221.02, beating Gold by 15.48.

Gold, who finished fourth at the Sochi Olympics last year, scored 138.52 in the free skate. She and Wagner both won Olympic bronze medals as part of the U.S. team in Russia.

Polina Edmunds, who finished second to Gold at nationals last year and ninth at the Olympics, was in third place entering Saturday but dropped behind Karen Chen, who took third with a score of 135.13 in the free skate.

Mirai Nagasu, the 2008 champion and last year's bronze medalist at nationals, slipped from fourth place to 10th.
