New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Red Bull New York striker Bradley Wright- Phillips was named MLS Player of the Week for the third week of the 2015 season.

Wright-Phillips, who tied the single-season scoring record with 27 goals in 2014, got off the mark for the new campaign by providing the opening goal in New York's 2-0 defeat of D.C. United on Sunday.

The English striker latched on to a long ball from Dax McCarty in the 25th minute and settled the delivery before lashing a right-footed strike past Bill Hamid.

Wright-Phillips then turned provider in the second half, pouncing on a giveaway from DCU in the 71st minute to thread the needle for Lloyd Sam to double New York's advantage and seal the victory.

The Red Bulls have taken four points from their two matches under Jesse Marsch and will aim to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday when they face Columbus Crew SC at Crew Stadium.
