Rangers place Harrison on DL

The Texas Rangers placed Opening Day starter Matt Harrison on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

Harrison (back) was scheduled to start Thursday's game in Seattle. The move is retroactive to Saturday.

The left-hander is 0-2 with an 8.44 ERA in two starts this season. Harrison went 18-11 with a 3.29 ERA in 2012.

Texas recalled pitcher Justin Grimm from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the roster spot. He will start Thursday for the Rangers.

The right-hander went 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in five games (two starts) for the Rangers last year.
