Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is hospitalized with an intestinal virus, and he's not expected to return to action until at least Sunday's series finale against Houston.

Hamilton began feeling symptoms Friday morning and is expected to be hospitalized 12-24 hours. He's been receiving IV fluids.

Hamilton is hitting .330 this season with 22 home runs and 62 RBI for the AL West-leading Rangers.

The team recalled outfielder Leonys Martin from Triple-A Round Rock earlier on Friday when it placed pitcher Koji Uehara on the 15-day disabled list. Uehara is expected to miss the next 2-to-3 weeks due to a strained muscle under his right armpit.
