Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Earthquakes announced Tuesday that the club has signed German defender Andreas Gorlitz, pending the receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Andreas is an experienced veteran that has played at the highest level in Germany and with the German national team," said Earthquakes head coach Mark Watson. "He has trained with us over the past month and has shown that he will be a good addition to our squad. We are happy to have him in San Jose."

Gorlitz, 32, joins the Earthquakes after 12 years in the German professional ranks. He began his career in 2002 with 1860 Munich before making the switch to Bayern Munich in 2005. He also has featured for Karlsruher SC and Ingolstadt and has been capped twice for the German national team.
