Zakaria Bakkali netted a hat trick to see PSV Eindhoven rout NEC, 5-0, at the Philips Stadion on Saturday.

PSV managed just one goal in the first half as Bakkali opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but the home side ripped NEC apart on the opposite side of the interval.

Bakkali doubled PSV's advantage two minutes after the restart while Georginio Wijnaldum produced a brace with goals in the 61st and 75th minutes. The 17- year-old then completed his treble by tacking on another goal eight minutes from time.

The win sees PSV maintain top spot in the Eredivisie as it boasts the best goal differential in the Dutch top flight.

Also in Eredivisie action on Saturday, Jesper Drost, Kamohelo Mokotjo and Guyon Fernandez scored a goal apiece to lead Zwolle to a 3-1 defeat of Heracles, Heerenveen picked up a 2-0 road win at NAC thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech and Alfred Finnbogason, and Go Ahead Eagles preserved its unbeaten start to life in the top flight by earning a 2-1 victory over Den Haag.
