Eindhoven, Netherlands โ PSV Eindhoven came from behind to inch closer to top spot in the Eredivisie with a 3-2 defeat of Willem II at Philips Stadion on Saturday.
Jens Podevijn and Niek Vossebelt handed visiting Willem II a two-goal advantage inside the opening 25 minutes, a lead that it managed to hold until midway through the second half.
The home side rallied with three goals in the span of 14 minutes to complete a dramatic comeback. Kevin Strootman scored twice to level the score with goals in the 68th and 79th minutes, and Tim Matavz clinched all three points with the game-winner eight minutes from time.
The result sees PSV move to within one point of first-place Twente, which was held to a 1-1 draw at Roda on Saturday. Willem II stays put on six points.
Vitesse was able to keep pace with PSV in the hunt for top spot as it cruised to a 3-0 defeat of NAC on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, Ajax surrendered two goals in the final 10 minutes to conclude a 3-3 draw with Heracles and AZ Alkmaar suffered its second successive loss as Ryan Koolwijk's brace lifted NEC to a 2-0 win.
