Paris, France – PSG claimed its first Ligue 1 win of the 1 win over Valenciennes at the Parc des Princes.
The big-spending club had earned just one point from its first two games in league play, but new signing Kevin Gameiro got them off to a good start when he opened the scoring after 39 minutes.
Remi Gomis leveled the match on the stroke of halftime by heading home a cross from Renaud Cohade, but the visitors handed PSG a penalty kick in the second half when David Ducourtioux handled the ball inside his own area.
Nene stepped to the spot and made no mistake, forcing Valenciennes to suffer its second loss in the first three games.
Marseille 0, St Etienne 0
Marseille, France - Marseille played to a third draw in three games on Sunday, finishing 0-0 with St Etienne at the Stade Velodrome.
Marseille had the better of the play over the course of 90 minutes and played the final five minutes up a man as St Etienne's Jean-Pascal Mignot received his second yellow card.
But the hosts couldn't take advantage despite allowing just one shot on target all game.
St Etienne had won its first two games of the campaign and now owns seven points from three matches.
Montpellier 4, Rennes 0
Montpellier, France - Souleymane Camara scored a pair of goals to help Montpellier maintain its perfect start to the season with a 4-0 win over Rennes.
Younes Belhanda scored from the penalty spot in the 31st minute, and Geoffrey Dernis doubled the lead early in the second half for Montpellier.
The lead was then secured by Camara, who scored both of his goals in the final 20 minutes.
Sochaux 2, Nancy 1
Nancy, France - Sochaux grabbed its first win of the season on Sunday as the club held off Nancy, 2-1, despite playing the final 25 minutes of the match with 10 men.
Mathieu Peybernes and Slovan Privat scored 11 minutes apart in the second half to put Sochaux up 2-0. However, Carlao was sent off for a poor challenge inside the penalty area on Nancy's Paul Alo'o Efoulou, allowing Youssouf Hadji to convert from the spot.
But Nancy was unable to find the equalizer over the final 25 minutes despite being up a man, leaving the club with one point from its first three games.
