Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - The Portland Timbers revealed Tuesday that midfielder Diego Valeri will undergo surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
Valeri sustained the injury in Portland's 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Saturday and is expected to be sidelined for at least five months.
In his second season with the Timbers, the 28-year-old Argentine played in 33 games, establishing Timbers MLS-club single-season records with 11 goals and 14 assists.
