Pittsburgh "pretty amped" after bruising opening win over Delaware

PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst is starting to forge an identity for the program in his third year.

The Panthers ran for 409 yards and seven touchdowns while mashing Delaware in the season opener on Saturday. Pitt ran the ball 56 times and passed it just 14 times.

Though Chryst expects things to be more balanced when the Panthers travel to Boston College on Friday night, it was a promising start for sophomore running back James Conner and an offensive line working in several new faces.

Pitt's passing game also survived a scare against Delaware. Sophomore wide receiver Tyler Boyd is expected to play against the Eagles after dislocating a finger on his left hand on a punt return.

Boyd practiced Monday and Tuesday and should be fine barring any setbacks.
