The Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday placed outfielder Starling Marte on the 15-day disabled list with injuries to his right hand.

Marte, 24, suffered a contusion as well as a sprain to the fourth MCP ligament. In his second major league season, the native of the Dominican Republic is hitting .282 with 11 homers, 10 triples, 25 doubles and 33 RBI in 118 appearances.

To fill the roster spot, the Bucs recalled outfielder Andrew Lambo from Triple-A Indianapolis. Lambo hit just .111 in a four-game call-up from Aug. 13-17.
