Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen was named National League Player of the Week for the period ending July 8.

McCutchen, who has been named an All-Star for two straight years, batted .517 with three homers, nine RBI and 11 runs scored during the week, helping the Pirates to six victories and into first place in the NL Central.

McCutchen capped off his week by homering twice and knocking in four runs during Pittsburgh's 13-2 rout of the San Francisco Giants.
