Bologna manager Stefano Piolo was handed a contract extension on Monday that ties him to the club through the 2014-15 season.

Piolo took over for Pierpaolo Bisoli in 2011 and guided the team to a ninth- place finish last season before Bologna got off to a slow start this term.

But after spending much of the season in the lower reaches of Serie A, Piolo's side has found a good run of form to climb to 11th place with nine games remaining.

"I believe strongly in the work we are doing and we want to continue building what we started a year and a half ago," Piolo told the club's website. "I'm not thinking about anything else but finishing this season strongly and starting work on the next one."
