Phillips signs 3-year deal with Ottawa

There are no more Chris Phillips trade rumors. The veteran defenseman isn't going anywhere.

The Ottawa Senators signed Phillips to a three-year contract extension. Terms of the deal, that takes him through the 2013-14 season, were not released, but the Ottawa Sun reported on Sunday that the contract is worth $9 million.

Phillips, who turns 33 on March 9, has been with the club since it selected him with the No. 1 selection at the 1996 Entry Draft. He has a goal and 4 assists in 62 games for the Senators this season.

In 925 NHL games, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound blueliner has 60 goals, 173 assists and 655 penalty minutes.
