A person familiar with the decisions has confirmed the Buffalo Sabres have fired assistant coaches James Patrick and Kevyn Adams.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity Thursday, because the Sabres have not announced the moves. The Buffalo News first reported the firings on its website earlier in the day.

The changes come two days after Ron Rolston took over as head coach. Rolston closed the season as the Sabres interim coach after Lindy Ruff was fired in February.

Patrick completed his seventh season as a Sabres assistant. He rejoined his former team after a 21-season NHL career as a defenseman.

Adams completed his fourth season on the Sabres staff, including the past two as an assistant. From suburban Buffalo, Adams enjoyed a 10-year NHL career as a forward.
