WASHINGTON – A person close to the situation says the Atlantic 10 will hold its 2018 men's basketball tournament in Washington, D.C.
The person spoke to The Associated Press Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the conference had not made the announcement public.
The league announced it will have a "major men's basketball championship announcement" on Thursday.
The tournament will be held at the Barclays Center in New York through 2016 and again from 2019-2021. A venue for the 2017 tournament has not been announced.
The D.C. metro area is home to two Atlantic 10 schools: George Washington and George Mason.
