PHILADELPHIA – Trevor Daley, Carl Hagelin and Chris Kunitz each scored and Marc-Andre Fleury made 16 saves Saturday, sending the Pittsburgh Penguins past Philadelphia 4-1 and six points ahead of Philadelphia for one of the final two Eastern Conference playoff spots.
The rivals will meet twice more in the final week of the season.
After falling behind on a goal by Radko Gudas early in the second period, the Penguins answered quickly. Nick Bonino won a board battle with Flyers rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and fed Daley in left circle to tie it.
Flyers goalie Steve Mason wasn't supposed to start but got the call after Michal Neuvirth appeared injured during warmups. The Flyers said during the game Neuvirth "didn't feel well."
Mason kept the Flyers in the game for a while finishing with 31 saves, but the Penguins finally broke the game open with goals by Hagelin and Kunitz 90 seconds apart at the end of the second period.
