The Carolina Panthers placed starting defensive tackles Sione Fua and Terrell McClain on injured reserve Tuesday.

Both players were selected by Carolina in the third round of the 2011 draft.

Fua strained his right hamstring prior to Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. The Stanford product played in 12 games (11 starts) this season, recording nine tackles.

McClain sprained his left knee during the first half of Sunday's 38-19 win. The South Florida product started 12 games this year and recorded 19 tackles and one sack.

Carolina has now had 14 players land on injured reserve this season, equaling the team record for the most players on IR.

To replace Fua and McClain on the roster, Carolina signed defensive tackle Jason Shirley off the practice squad and free agent defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo. In addition, the team signed defensive tackle DeMario Pressley to the practice squad.
