Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Simone Padoin's goal 18 minutes from time was enough to propel Juventus to a 1-0 victory over Atalanta on Monday at Juventus Stadium.
Juve was unexpectedly crowned champions of Italy for the third consecutive season on Sunday after AS Roma was dealt a 4-1 defeat by relegation-battling Catania.
With the title already clinched, several regulars were rested and Juve were content to cede possession to Atalanta and try to hit on the counter-attack.
Juventus held Atalanta to just two attempts on goal and finally claimed the winning tally in the 72nd minute when Padoin got on the end of a pass from Paul Pogba and fired it past Atalanta goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.
The result sees the champions improve to 96 points with two games to play, while Atalanta remains in 11th place on 47 points.
In Monday's other Serie A fixture, Lazio and Hellas Verona settled for a share of the spoils in a wild 3-3 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
Keita opened the scoring for Lazio in the 30th minute, but Marquinho answered for Hellas six minutes later and the clubs went into the break level.
The match livened up in the second half as Senad Lulic gave the hosts the lead in the 59th, but Hellas responded with tallies from Juan Manuel Iturbe and Romulo to snag a 3-2 lead with eight minutes to play.
Lazio had the last laugh, however as Stefano Mauri scored in the third minute of stoppage time to rescue a point for his side.
