Atlanta Hawks center Zaza Pachulia has selected to undergo surgery on a sore right Achilles, effectively ending his season.

The club announced on Saturday that the procedure will be performed on Wednesday in Charlotte by Dr. Robert Anderson, with the recovery time tabbed at six months.

"After thoroughly reviewing the possible options with Zaza, we all felt this was the best decision to insure Zaza's complete recovery so that he can be at 100 percent going forward," said Hawks general manager Danny Ferry. Zaza is a professional with a strong work ethic. The Hawks will continue to be completely supportive as he tackles the return-to-play process."

Pachulia averaged 5.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 52 games for Atlanta this season.
