TORONTO - Owen Sound Attack general manager Dale DeGray was named the Ontario Hockey League's executive of the year Thursday.
The Attack had their most successful year in team history under DeGray, compiling a franchise-best 46-17-5 record, winning the OHL championship and earning a berth in the MasterCard Memorial Cup.
DeGray, a 47-year-old native of Oshawa, Ont., has been Owen Sound's GM since 2007.
He previously spent five years as an amateur scout for the NHL's Florida Panthers after scoring 18 goals and 47 assists 153 games as a defenceman with Calgary, Toronto, Los Angeles and Buffalo.
"Through drafting and very astute trades, Dale assembled a group of young men that truly defined the word 'team,'" said Attack president Dr. Robert Severs in a statement.
"Along with the coaching and training staff, Dale instilled a culture within our organization that will lead us down a successful path for years to come."
