PHILADELPHIA -- Edmonton Oilers General Manager Steve Tambellini avoided serious injury when he was hit on the head by a pane of glass while watching his team practice here Monday at Wells Fargo Center.

Tambellini was standing by the Oilers' bench when a piece of Plexiglas fell on his head. According to the Edmonton Sun, Tambellini never lost consciousness, and after being checked at the arena, all he had was a headache.

"That's the hardest I've been in hit in a long time," said Tambellini, who retired after 12 years of professional hockey following the 1989-90 season. "Unreal. It was a heavy hit."
