Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy left Friday's game against the Rangers after getting drilled by a pitch in the fourth inning.

With one out, Endy Chavez hit a sharp liner right back to the mound. The ball hit the right knee of McCarthy, who fell to the ground immediately. He was able to limp off the field.

McCarthy gave up seven runs -- five earned -- on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. Trystan Magnuson took over on the mound for the A's.

McCarthy came into the game with a 5-5 record and 3.31 ERA.
