Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Nuggets announced that center JaVale McGee underwent surgery Thursday to repair a stress fracture in his left tibia and will be out for the rest of the season.

McGee was injured early in the season and had hoped rest would aid in his recovery.

"While it's disappointing that we won't have JaVale back on the court this season, we're happy that he can move forward in his recovery," Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly said in a statement.

McGee averaged 7.0 points and 3.4 rebounds in five games.
