University of North Dakota football coach Chris Mussman announced on Friday that wide receivers coach Luke Schleusner has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

The move comes one day after UND announced offensive coordinator Greg Breitbach's resignation to become the head coach at Millersville University.

Schleusner played wide receiver at UND and was part of its 2001 Division II national championship team. He will remain the wide receivers coach in addition to his new duties.

"Last year, we made Luke our passing-game coordinator and I was thoroughly impressed with how well he communicated his ideas and how organized he was," Mussman said. "The result was one of the best passing seasons in UND history, so this was an easy decision for me to make. He is ready for this role and excited for the opportunity."

Schleusner joined his alma mater's staff before the 2011 season. He spent the previous six seasons as an assistant coach at Minnesota State.

Mussman also announced running backs coach Danny Freund will take over as the quarterbacks coach and Benny Boyd will take on the role as special teams coordinator.
