Green Bay, WI – Julie Wojta scored 17 points, as No. 10 Green 53, in Wednesday's Horizon League Tournament quarterfinal matchup.
Sarah Eichler added 14 points and Adrian Ritchie had 12 for the top-seeded Phoenix (28-1). The tournament's defending champion advanced to play fourth- seeded UIC in Friday's semifinals. Jenny Gilbertson finished with 10 points in 15 minutes.
The Crusaders (10-21), seeded ninth, got 19 points from Tabitha Gerardot and 14 from Ashley Varner. They advanced to Wednesday's quarterfinals with a 47-39 first-round win over Milwaukee, which marked their first-ever Horizon League Tournament victory.
Valpo competed early, playing to a 10-10 tie and trailing by just seven, 28-21, before the Green Bay closed the first half with a 10-4 spurt to take a 38-25 lead into the break.
The Phoenix were up, 44-35, in the second when they reeled off a 15-0 run to significantly take charge.
Gilbertson had five points during the surge and Megan Lukan had four before Ritchie capped it with a layup, making it 59-35 with 10:47 to play.
Valparaiso didn't threaten the rest of the way.
