Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Nixon buried a pair of second- half goals on Sunday as Flamengo eased to a 3-0 victory over Chapecoense at the Maracana.

Coming off a 2-0 win over Atletico Mineiro in domestic cup competition during the week, the hosts got off to a bit of a slow start against Chapecoense as the clubs went into the intermission scoreless.

But the breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Anderson Pico fired home the opening salvo and Nixon struck for his first of the game six minutes later.

Nine minutes later, Nixon completed his double to wrap up all three points for Flamengo and give the club its second consecutive win across all competitions.

The result lifts Flamengo into 10th place in the table with 43 points, while Chapecoense remains in 15th place on 36 points.

Also in Brazil on Sunday, Edson Silva and Alan Kardec scored on either side of the intermission as Sao Paulo claimed a 2-1 win over Criciuma, while goals from Marquinhos and Egidio propelled Cruziero to a 2-1 victory over Botafogo.

Chile international Charles Aranguiz scored a pair of goals on Sunday to help Internacional earn a 2-1 result over Santos, while Diego Souza netted the winner for Sport Recife in a 1-0 win over Figueirense.

Paulinho Dias scored in the first minute of play and the goal held up to give Atletico PR a 1-0 win against Atletico Mineiro, while Mazinho's 35th-minute tally handed Palmeiras three points with a win over Bahia.

On Saturday, Elias and Bruno Henrique Corsini scored second-half goals to help Corinthians battle back to claim a point in a 2-2 draw with Coritiba, while an own goal from Richarlyson was the only scoring as Gremio earned a 1-0 win over Vitoria Setubal.

Finally on Saturday, Fred and Dario Leonardo Conca scored to lift Fluminense to a 2-0 result over Goias.
