NHL 2013-14: Stars start over with new GM, coach, overhauled roster in effort to end drought

The Dallas Stars are starting over in their quest to end the longest playoff drought in franchise history.

There's a new general manager in Jim Nill, who hired a new coach in Lindy Ruff and overhauled the roster.

Ruff was the longest-tenured coach in the NHL when Buffalo fired him in the middle of last season. Now, he's trying to get the Stars back to the playoffs almost 15 years after he faced them in the Stanley Cup finals in 1999. Dallas won that title.

The biggest addition was Tyler Seguin, a two-time Stanley Cup finalist and one-time champion with Boston.

Forward Jamie Benn and goalie Kari Lehtonen are among the familiar faces for Dallas heading into the opener Oct. 3 against Florida.
