Newcastle defender Taylor to miss several months

Newcastle, England – Newcastle defender Ryan Taylor will be sidelined "several months" with a major knee injury suffered Thursday in the Europa League.

Taylor, 28, landed awkwardly during the match against Atromitos and was forced to leave the game. He was examined Friday and "results showed he has sustained a serious injury."

Newcastle did not disclose the exact nature of the injury, and how long Taylor will be sidelined is unknown. Taylor played 31 Premier League matches for the Magpies last season.
