The Washington Nationals placed outfielder Jayson Werth on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain on Saturday.

The move is retroactive to May 3, as Werth has been hampered by the injury and unable to play for over a week. The club decided to place him on the disabled list after he experienced a setback on Friday.

Werth has posted a .260 batting average with four homers and 10 RBI in 27 games this season. He's played in just one of the Nationals' last nine contests.

To take his place on the roster, Washington recalled outfielder Eury Perez from Triple-A Syracuse. Perez was batting .346 with seven stolen bases over 23 games with the Nationals' minor league affiliate.
