Aric Brooks scored 16 points and Kevin Thompson added 13 as Morgan State defeated South Carolina State 71-55 on Saturday to remain undefeated in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play.

The Bears (8-7, 4-0) have won eight of the last 10 meetings between the schools, although the Bulldogs hold a 39-28 series advantage.

Trailing 9-8 with 13:35 to go in the first half, Morgan State went on an 11-0 run. South Carolina State did not score again until Omar Sanders hit two free throws with 8:43 left.

The Bears led by as many as 15 en route to a 35-23 halftime lead.

South Carolina State could get no closer than 11 in the second half.

Justin Black added 11 points for Morgan State, which has won three games in a row and four of its last five.

Sanders and Carrio Bennett scored 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs (5-11, 1-2), who have lost seven of their last eight.
