St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina departed Sunday's 8-3 victory over the Phillies in the bottom of the fifth inning due to dehydration.
With the count 2-1, Molina appeared to call for time, then step out of the batters box. He was attended to by team personnel, then left for good.
Tony Cruz finished the at-bat and took over behind the plate for the top of the sixth. Molina ended up 2-for-2 with a grand slam.
Game-time temperatures in the region were expected to reach the mid-90s.
