Hokkaido, Japan (SportsNetwork.com) - Katsumasa Miyamoto earned his ninth career victory on the Japan Golf Tour Sunday when he defeated Hideto Tanihara to win the ANA Open.

The duo, entering the day tied for the lead, shot matching, 5-under 67s to finish regulation play deadlocked at 18-under-par 270 before Miyamoto was able to come away with the title in a playoff.

Miyamoto started off strong with two birdies in the first four holes on one and four. After his first dropped shot of the day on the sixth, Miyamoto rattled off three straight birdies from No. 7 to finish the front nine at 4- under on the Wattsu Course at Sapporo Golf Club.

Another bogey on the par-5 12th dropped Miyamoto back a shot, but he finished strong with two birdies on the final three holes at 16 and 17. A par on the last was good enough to force a playoff with Tanihara.

Tanihara started off with a birdie on the first, but gave that shot back with a bogey on the third. He closed his front nine with gains on four, seven and nine to go along with his second bogey on No. 8.

Three bogeys on the back side at 12, 14 and 16 did the trick to force a playoff, where Tanihara was defeated by Miyamoto.

Wen-Chong Liang also shot a 67 on Sunday and he finished tied for third at 16- under 272 with Hyung-Sung Kim and Yoshinori Fujimoto, both of whom carded 68s.

Sang-Hee Lee (69) ended in sole possession of sixth at 15-under 273, while Nobuhiro Masuda (70) finished another shot back at minus-14.
