Mississippi hopes to build off breakout season following SEC tournament title, NCAA tournament
Marshall Henderson was the face of Mississippi basketball this season as the Rebels advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002.
But the flamboyant, high-scoring guard had plenty of help from seniors Murphy Holloway and Reginald Buckner, two bruising and experienced forwards who did most of the dirty work in the paint while Henderson scored most of the points and received most of the attention.
It was a formula that led to plenty of success, including 27 wins which tied a school record. The Rebels caught fire at the end of the season and won six straight — including the Southeastern Conference tournament championship for the first time since 1981 — before losing to LaSalle 76-74 on Sunday night in the third round of the NCAA tournament.
