Milan, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - AC Milan has confirmed that the club will sign Japan international midfielder Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow next month on a free transfer.

Honda moved to Russia with CSKA in 2010 after spending two seasons with Dutch side Venlo.

The 27-year-old has scored 20 goals in over 90 games for CSKA, but his deal runs out at the end of this month, paving the way for a move to Milan.

"Now we can say it," Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told Sky Sport Italia. "From Jan. 3, 2014, Keisuke Honda will be a Milan player."

Galliani has also said that Honda is likely to make his Rossoneri debut on Jan. 12 against Sassuolo after Milan failed to sign Honda over the summer when the two teams were unable to agree on a transfer fee.

Honda has earned 52 caps for Japan, scoring 20 goals, and he will join a Milan side that currently resides in ninth place in Serie A, 22 points adrift of leaders Juventus.
