The fight for promotion to the Premier League rarely lacks excitement. On Tuesday, Middlesbrough's hilarious (but successful!) scrum around Reading's goal gave us a terrific reminder as the scrap to reach the EPL creeps closer to its denouement.

Knotted up with fellow Football League Championship club Reading in the waning minutes of stoppage time, Boro midfielder Adam Forshaw tucked in a valuable winner after a cartoonish scramble in front of the net. (The scenes start at 1:44 in the video below).

There's a whole lot to unpack in that 10 seconds of madness, so we suggest running it back and watching it a few times. Our favorite gem is definitely Albert Adomah's teeth-rattling header (facer?) that set up Forshaw's 94th-minute winner and sent Riverside Stadium into a frenzy.

Whether Adomah's layoff was intentional or not is debatable ... but sometimes you need a little bit of luck for things to go your way. Farcical or not, Middlesbrough will be happy to take points however they can get them if it ensures promotion. The last-gasp 2-1 victory pushed Boro to the top of the table, two points clear with five matches left to play.
