Kilmarnock, Scotland – William McKay scored in the 56th minute to seal a 2-1 victory for Inverness at Kilmarnock on Saturday, helping the club maintain a three-point cushion over Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premier League table.
The visitors were in front by the six-minute mark when Richie Foran opened the scoring, but Kilmarnock managed to equalize through Barry Nicholson just six minutes into the second period.
But the even score was short-lived as McKay struck five minutes later with his league-leading sixth goal of the season.
Inverness improves to 16 points to remain three points ahead of Celtic after the Hoops claimed a 3-1 victory at Hearts on Saturday. Kris Commons and Jason Holt exchanged goals in that affair before a pair of second-half strikes from Anthony Stokes and Teemu Pukki gave the visitors the win.
Aberdeen turned out a dominant display at Firhill Stadium on Saturday to earn a 3-0 defeat of Partick Thistle. Calvin Makongo Zola got the Dons off the mark in the 13th minute before Peter Pawlett doubled their advantage seven minutes later, while Josh Magennis struck 20 minutes from time to add an insurance goal.
Also on Saturday, Paul Heffernan and James Collins helped Hibernian overturn a one-goal deficit to give the club a 2-1 win at St. Johnstone while John Sutton provided the lone goal in Motherwell's 1-0 defeat of St. Mirren.
