E.C. Matthews scored 19 points as Rhode Island dominated Richmond 66-43 on Saturday.

Despite making just 2 of 13 3-point attempts, Rhode Island (13-17, 4-11 Atlantic-10) built up to a 28-point lead over Richmond (18-11, 8-6), which was just 21 percent from the floor — and 2 of 19 beyond the arc.

Xavier Munford had 15 for the Rams. Gilvydas Biruta added 13 points and 10 boards while Hassan Martin had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Rhode Island held a 46-37 rebounding advantage.

Richmond was up one early but went completely cold as Rhode Island closed the first half on a 21-6 run to lead 31-15 at the break. Richmond made just 5 of 21 shots in the first half.

The second half offered no respite for Richmond, as Rhode Island opened with a 17-9 run as the Rams cruised to the victory.

Terry Allen led Richmond with 15 points.
