Matheny announces Cards coaching staff

St. Louis, MO – New St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny announced his coaching staff for the 2012 season on Wednesday.

Pitching coach Dave Duncan, third base coach Jose Oquendo, hitting coach Mark McGwire and bullpen coach Derek Lilliquist will return in their same positions to guide the defending World Series champions.

Mike Aldrete was promoted to bench coach, while Chris Maloney -- who managed the Redbirds' Triple-A affiliate in Memphis -- takes over as first base coach.

Former first base coach Dave McKay and former bench coach Joe Pettini will remain with the organization in the baseball operations department.
