Russell Martin has played for quite a few good teams, reaching the postseason six times in his 10-year career.
However, the 2015 Toronto Blue Jays might top them all.
"We're looking like the best team I've ever been on," Martin told reporters after sweeping the New York Yankees. "And with the additions we made, definitely. We're a deep team now. I like our chances."
The Blue Jays boast the longest playoff drought in all of MLB at the moment, a streak of 21 seasons without tasting October.
After the sweep of the Yankees (and their eight-game winning streak), the Jays sit on top of the wild card standings, half a game up on the Los Angeles Angels, and just 1.5 games back of New York.
"They are a good ball club," Martin said. "We're rolling right now. It's going to be a tight race all the way through."
