Columbus, OH – The Columbus Crew announced on Monday that the year contract extension that could tie him to the club through the 2015 season.
Marshall has spent his entire eight-year career with the Crew, twice being named MLS Defender of the Year while also being selected to the MLS Best XI on two occasions.
"Chad is our captain and he is one of the best defenders in the league, so he is obviously a very important part of our team," said Crew head coach Robert Warzycha. "He is also one of the best players in club history and he's still in his prime, so we couldn't be happier to get him signed to this new contract."
The 27-year-old Marshall played in 32 games this past season for the Crew while he has appeared in 199 matches for the team during his career, scoring 13 goals with 10 assists.
