Eindhoven, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Maher scored twice to lead PSV Eindhoven to a 3-0 home win over AZ Alkmaar on Saturday that moves PSV four points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table.
Luciano Narsingh got the scoring started in the 20th minute, and Maher followed with two more goals before halftime, putting PSV in a commanding position that was never threatened.
Jetro Willems set up the opener with a well-weighted ball that found the foot of Narsingh, who latched on to the pass and dispatched a shot beyond the reach of goalkeeper Sergio Rochet.
Willems had a hand in the second goal as well when his dangerous cross could only be parried by Rochet straight into the path of Maher, who easily headed home PSV's second goal.
Maher capped a splendid first half with a great individual effort as he beat three AZ defenders and lashed a shot well out of the reach of Rochet to leave AZ with little chance of getting back into the game.
Second-place Ajax was held to a 1-1 draw at Twente on Saturday as Ajax needed a 71st-minute equalizer from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to cancel out a first-half opener from Jesus Corona.
