ORLANDO, Fla. – Thursday night's NBA draft is a big moment for Magic general manager Rob Hennigan and the future of franchise.
The first-time general manager has stockpiled draft assets since his arrival in 2012, and holds the No. 4 and No. 12 overall picks.
Hennigan acknowledged Wednesday that the injury of big man Joel Embiid complicates how the three selections before the Magic could likely play out, and that trying to trade up or down from their current position is a possibility.
Veteran shooting guard Arron Afflalo's name has been mentioned as a possible trade chip should the Magic try to move up.
Also, if the Magic select a point guard on Thursday it could impact what happens to veteran Jameer Nelson, who has only a partially-guaranteed contract for next season.
