Juventus and defender Lucio have decided to part ways by mutual agreement, the club confirmed on Monday.

Lucio was released by Inter Milan over the summer and signed with Juve, but he made only four appearances for the club in all competitions, although he did collect a winner's medal by helping Juve beat Napoli in the Italian Super Cup in July.

"Lucio's adventure in the black and white stripes has come to an end," read a statement on the club's website.

"Juventus and the Brazilian defender have reached an agreement for the player's contract to be terminated by mutual consent."

Lucio won the 2002 World Cup as a member of Brazil as well as the Champions League with Inter in 2010.

He also enjoyed stops in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.
