London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Liverpool suffered its third defeat in four Premier League outings as it was dismantled in a 3-1 loss to West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday.

The Reds were humiliated in a narrow home loss to Aston Villa last time out, but things managed to get worse as they found themselves trailing the Hammers by two goals within seven minutes of the opening whistle on Saturday.

The hosts took a shock lead after only 75 seconds as a free kick was headed back across goal where Winston Reid was waiting to convert from close range.

The Hammers doubled their advantage in the seventh minute when Diafra Sakho capped a well-worked move by sending a brilliant chip over the head of Simon Mignolet and into the back of the net.

Liverpool got back within touching distance in the 27th minute when Mario Balotelli's blocked shot fell kindly to Raheem Sterling, who smashed the loose ball just inside the far post with a first-time half-volley.

But as the visitors pushed vigorously for an equalizer in the second half, West Ham put the result out of Liverpool's reach in the 88th minute when Stewart Downing's threaded pass was slipped past Mignolet by Morgan Amalfitano.

The goal sealed a momentous week for West Ham that saw the club take four points from two potentially tricky fixtures. The club climbs to eighth place in the top flight with seven points.

Liverpool, meanwhile, only sits 10th in the table with six points.

But Cisse put the Magpies on his back and gave the club a share of the spoils, halving the deficit in the 74th minute before equalizing three minutes from time.
