LeBeau resigns as Steelers defensive coordinator

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dick LeBeau has resigned as the Steelers' defensive coordinator -- a position he has held for the past 11 seasons.

LeBeau, 77, helped the Steelers win two Super Bowls following the 2005 and '08 seasons.

"We want to thank Dick for his many years of service with the team and all that he has done for this organization," said Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. "His coaching helped lead us to many successful seasons and championships. We are very appreciative of his efforts, and we wish him well."

LeBeau has been a coach in the NFL in some capacity ever since his Hall-of- Fame playing career with the Lions ended in 1972. He was the Bengals' head coach from 2000-02 and compiled a 12-33 record. LeBeau had been with the Steelers' organization for 16 seasons.
