DALLAS – A judge is to weigh whether to allow a lawsuit accusing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones of sexual assault to proceed.
An Oklahoma woman has sued Jones and the Cowboys, saying Jones forcibly touched her genitals and kissed her on the lips without her consent more than five years ago. Jana Weckerly also says she was paid for more than four years to keep quiet about the incident.
Jones and the Cowboys have denied the allegations and called Weckerly's lawsuit frivolous.
Friday's hearing in Dallas is expected to center on whether Weckerly is too late in filing her claims. Texas has a 5-year statute of limitations on civil cases involving sexual assault.
Weckerly is seeking damages of more than $1 million.
